Default TopicTown.com meets SEO! - 11-28-2009, 05:22 PM

Citizens,

I have installed an SEO solution which has made content relevant URLs. This will be a big help in getting the site properly indexed in major search engines. I've also installed a sitemap feature and am working on various other SEO features. Please name your threads accordingly because the name of the thread will be placed in the URL. Here's how it works.

Thread name: OMG LOOK AT THIS
URL would be: topictown.com/(forum id)/OMG-LOOK-AT-THIS-(thread_id)/

Also, you will notice that your homepage URL's are structured in this way:

Username: Andrew
Homepage: topictown.com/citizens/andrew/

Cheers,
Andrew

i dont get the point of vBSeo, its just a waste of space on you're FTP. All it does is shorten you're user's profile lengths, and pretty much makes a post's URL longer.

Content relevant URLs are a major part of search engine optimization. I discovered this through about 30 minisites with keyword domains- therefore it must work with forums, I thought. Before purchasing, I spoke with many large forum owners who have implemented vBSEO into their solutions. The results and my research was overwhelming in my decision to purchase it.

Much better for SEO...I don't like thread urls that have a bunch of numbers in them.

Dude that's amazing! I was trying to do the thread names to thread url's (Like your example: Thread name: OMG LOOK AT THIS
URL would be: topictown.com/(thread id)/OMG-LOOK-AT-THIS/)
And I couldn't get it to work. So nice work man

ICP,

What were you trying to do exactly?

To make an actual location of topictown.com/(thread id)/OMG-LOOK-AT-THIS/) ?

This is really cool Andrew, and I'm sure this will make the forum a lot more user-friendly which is always a great thing. Keep it up and I can't wait to see your next update.

Seo is great for Forums especially if questions and answers pp up. They make great long tail keywords. I am sure I will be putting in some good questions as I go along..That will help fluff up our SERPS!

I've switched it around again, this time to:

topictown.com/topics/THREAD_ID an topictown.com/forums/FORUM_ID

topictown.com/topics/THREAD_TITLE or topictown.com/topics/showthread=THREAD_ID
