Do you think all citizens should be able to apply for a gun?

Like mental people, criminals, ect....

I don't think certain people should be aloud to have a legal gun. Even though they can probably buy it off the streets, they can't get a lisence to have one. Then if they get caught with their illegal gun they go to jail.

Everyone should be able to legally own a gun, we have the right to bear arms after all, we deserve guns. I myself carry pocket knife on me.

The situation in America has gotten very bad. Anyone can get a gun off the street, so in the name of public defence, one should be able to own a gun to protect them. Criminals have the weapons, so it would fit that law-abiding citizens should be able to do the same. There is no way to rid the country of guns, so we might as well allow those who follow the rules the right to own a gun.

The mentally affected, no. Reason being they could probably hurt someone if you think about it. Only those able to handle themselves should be able to apply for a gun.

I don't think every citizen should be able to buy guns. Guns are not needed, if you have guns at your home, you can be risking your family because if some robber enter on your house and you try to shoot with your weapon, he can kill you and/or your family...

Oh because the police are going to prevent me from getting robbed? No, all they do is come and mop up the mess after i get killed. Police can't prevent all crimes. After all, if you take away the honest peoples guns, the criminals still aren't going to obey the law.

Let's take Switzerland, They issue every adult male an AUTOMATIC WEAPON. They train them once a year and are required to own one. Their gun crimes are low.

I think if they have any sort of criminal record or any records of mental issues they shouldnt be allowed. Other than that, it should be fine.

No one should have guns. I mean I can be trusted with a gun in case I need to be protect myself, but if everyone gets a gun then it'll lead to chaos.

The problem is some cultures and civilizations have been built by the Gun and unless we change the Whole mentality and culture around Guns, we can't get rid of the Gun. Same thing with prostitution and Drugs. People blame the Prostitutes and Drugs for the problem but it is men's sick minds who have created these commodities, the same with guns. If we can rear a generation of men and women who can exercise self control, then guns are not needed, or if they are there then they will only act as a deterrent as people will be responsible. You can't have total anarchy in a Democracy. You can only give people freedom with laws so if people have to carry guns, strict laws must accompany who and who cannot carry them.

Actually when you have a weapon the chance of injury is higher... its better to let them rob you, at least you live that way

I live in Philadelphia, I've been robbed at gunpoint. Highest murder rate in the country. We need more regulations on guns, particularly handguns, which ONLY serve to hurt humans. They always get into the wrong hands, or the right hands in the wrong situation.

We dont need guns for protection, we need economic equality and education.

I think that guns must be controlled. A simple truth, if a person with a gun, he had shot 50 percent chance, but no guns, no shooting opportunities. A Chinese saying goes, "who have a sharp equipment, will immediately generate the idea of murder."

Not all citizens should be able to apply for a gun. The ones that should be exempt are (but not limited to), mentally imcapitated, has a criminal record, any horrible family disease that ruins or affects the mind.

If the government were to take away guns fromt he law-abiding citizens it would only be the illegal-crazy-motherfuckers who would have access to this powerful weapon, leaving the citizens of America (or anything other place for that matter, Samalia *****) defenseless.

If you think about it, banning guns will do very little to help with the problem.

Here are two scenarios:
1) A person who has stolen some guns runs into a bank. He quickly is able to take out the unsuspecting security guards, and then taken everyone else hostage. It turns into a gun fight with the cops and endangers the lives of everyone present.
2) A person who has stolen some guns runs into a bank. He might be able to attack a guard, but when people realize what's going on, they collectively pull out their own registered, legally bought guns, and are able to keep the attacker from doing any real damage.

Yes, more bad people would have guns, but so would more good people.

As someone already said, guns don't kill people; people kill people. A pencil could be used to kill someone if they tried hard enough. Should we ban pencils too?

If guns get legal for all citizens the rate of murder will increase
