Default Why are we still in Afghanistan? - 12-06-2009, 06:24 PM

Obama is wanting to send more troops into Afghanistan. I thought we were going to pull out? Why are we even still there? Are we still on the hunt for Osama?

Why are we responsible for what happens over there? What we're doing over there is costing us billions of dollars and our economy is suffering.

It has been said in the newspaper that Obama has sent 30,000 more troops in Afghanistan to "make the process faster". So yeah. I donīt know, itīs pretty much an excuse to stay there and get oil.

To be honest, this whole afghanistan business is just a load of .... seriously, by putting troops into alkida etc will just anger everyone MORE, it doesn't make sense, let them fight their own battles, use the troops for good use, (Defending cities etc) when there is a terrorist attack -The US will miss the 30k+ troops in Afghanistan .

If we've learned anything at all in History. This is another form of imperialism and we are simply just exploiting Afghanistan for their oil. It won't be long before the Afghans revolt and force us out.

Obama wants to finish the Taliban for good, but I don't think he will ever achieve that. Also its bigger then you think, it ain't that simple to just make the call and say:
lets go boys!

80% of Afghan citizens have already stated they do not want US/UK troops in their country.

The figures also show that since we have occupied Afghanhistan and half the middle east, terrorist attacks have INCREASED. How hard is it to actually learn something off that?!?!?!?

We're there to restore the stability that was lost the past 8 years due to the Bush administration shifting our focus away from Afghanistan and onto Iraq.

I really doubt we're still there for the oil, seeing as how Obama's making it one of his prime focuses to develop alternative fuels.
